All of our Centre backs are just genuinely shocking. Could move on all 3 and I wouldn't be bothered. Their good attributes are just infinitely outweighed by each of their worst attributes.
Not our finest season but a decent last game and I'm sad to see it end. .
I’m not. Glad to see the end of this season. And not wasting my weekends. Having said that, I’ll be back next season as usual. What can I say, I’m just a sucker for punishment.
Kieran McKenna said he left Julio Enciso out of the squad as he has “a little niggle”, has international matches coming up and he wanted to use players who will be there next season
Interesting game and another example of the situation facing us. I think that most of us could largely agree on the best eleven players out of our squad but would struggle agreeing on how to best to use those players in order to make up the most effective team/formation.
It strikes me that our management, despite their professional credentials and experience are similarly struggling with the exact same conundrum as us mere mortals.
I agree Chicago and I think there will be quite a few in and quite a few out this summer so he can create what he wants. I think one problem is a lack of confidence in our centre backs which means he has to reinforce them and that leaves us looking very defensive. We should have a more attacking midfield but he has in my view lacked trust in the defence.
Id like to see a new centre back and sell Mavro to remove the temptation to play him and a new attacking midfielder in place of Paquetta who I would be happy to sell even if cleared of charges.
One thing to note is that in the years we felt we were more solid at the back I think it's important to remember they had a world class DM in Rice just in front of them and I suspect Kilman and Tobido would look a lot better with that luxury.
The summer business was so erratic that it is no surprise we have a squad but no idea how to play them effectively after 38 games. Most of them had never played in the PL.
There’s a lot to build on. Only one defeat since January by more than 1 goal & lots of games where we have dominated possession comfortably & looked a lot better defensively. Goals & chances have been an issue but by moving the likes of Kudus/Paqueta on we should be able to raise funds to reinvent that end of the pitch.
Last summer Jack Clarke left Sunderland to join Ipswich and now Ipswich is going back down to the Championship while Sunderland will be in the Premier League next season

About to come on now though.
Rodriguez has done well since coming on.

83 long days to the new one.

Ironic?
