Ipswich (Away) 4pm 25th May

edited May 21 in Match Threads
So, the season will finally draw to a close against already relegated Ipswich. A defeat could see us finish directly above them, a win will guarantee at least 15th and finishing above both Spurs and Man Utd. 14th is still a possibility following Wolves' defeat at Palace last night.

I suspect a good few of us will be glad to see this season over and done with, and on to the transfer window and all the fun and games that entails, Potter's first pre-season with us, and hopefully a much better season to come for 25/6.

  • Would be nice to finish with a win .And stay above those two pesky teams However it is us and we know how that can go .
  • The 4-1 win in the home game against Ispwich is one of only 2 games all season where we've scored more than 2 goals (the other being the 3-2 win at home to Fulham), let's hope for a repeat performance 🤞🤞🤞.
  • A short one for Bubbles, only one player to note and it's not Liam Delap

Paraguayan AM/LW Julio Enciso turned 21 in January but already has 25 full caps and celebrated his birthday by joining Ipswich on loan

He was a substitute in his first game but has started every game he's been available since then (missed a couple in February with a knee); scored 2 - both from around 35yds - and 3 assists

He is averaging more shots per game (2.5), more dribbles (2.1) and gets fouled more times (1.6) than any other Ipswich player

When he gets on the ball he will run at us and if we give him space he will shoot.

Brighton signed him when he was 16, maybe we should forget signing players and just poach Brighton's scouting network
  • Too long - LOSS =)
  • ASLEF, Haven’t we already recruited the previous head of Brighton’s recruitment team in Kyle Macaulay?
  • Macauley was head of scouting

Dan Ashworth was Brighton's Technical Director 2019-22, seems to regarded as responsible for Brighton's current crop of players who've come up from the academy

He left Brighton to become Sporting Director at Newcastle then Manchester United and now he's back at the FA where he'd been director of elite development before he joined Brighton
  • Nothing of note in Potter's presser.
  • Changes aplenty:

Fabiański, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Mavropanos, Scarles, Álvarez, Ward-Prowse, Souček, Bowen ©, Füllkrug
Subs: Areola (GK), Cresswell, Coufal, Irving, Rodríguez, Paquetá, Luis Guilherme, Kudus, Ings
  • Fab should have started last weeks home game to say goodbye
  • Just like last few games .Don't get the line up
  • COYI ⚒⚒⚒
  • Dominating possession but rarely threatening, surely we need Paqueta on the pitch in a game like this.
  • Plenty of possession for us but Ipswich looking more dangerous up front. No creativity in our midfield.
  • Good save by Fabianski.
  • Kilman in the book.
  • Kilman in the book. He has a habit of going through players unnecessarily.
  • Idiotic by Kilman.
  • Remind me, which is the relegated team?
  • Away fans singing the Payet song 😂
  • Tony Gale unfortunately correct, Scarles really had to give that cross some air.
  • Decent strike by Bowen, less so by JWP on the rebound.
  • Looked like he slipped a bit.
  • Get in, JWP
  • All made by Bowen, set it up beautifully for JWP.
  • Poor mistake by Ipswich though, gifted us the chance.
  • That was the most likely way we would score. A defensive error.
  • 2 mins added.

    0-1 HT😊😊😊.

Spurs winning (Man Utd drawing) so we need a win to finish above them as is, and with Wolves losing we're 14th as things stand 🤞🤞🤞.

Have just noticed that Man Utd are playing against 10 men, with Villa's keeper Martinez having been sent off. Would have to think we need a win to finish above them.
  • Let’s see if Potter makes a change at HT.
