Forest (Home) 2;15pm Sunday 18th May Liveon Sky

From two tams with nothing to play for in the league to a team where their league position is everything.

Forest were 3rd at the start of the year after winning six games on the bounce, they were still 3rd by the end of April but they haven't won since losing to City in the Cup, are down to 7th and in danger of missing out on Europe next season

We lost at the City Ground in November but we've lost all three away games since they were promoted and won both home games. This season they have the third best away record and have won more away games than any team apart from Liverpool although they've not got the best defensive record; conceding 39 away goals (6th worst) with an away goal difference of just +1

Nuno Espírito Santo hasn't made many changes to hi starting XI recently with 8 players starting the last three matches. Last weekend Brazilian CB Morato replaced Brazilian CB Murillo who is out with a hamstring while the weekend before utility player Nicolás Domínguez replaced LW Callum Hudson-Odoi - also out with a hamstring - and CM/DM Ibrahim Sangara returned to the starting XI after recovering from...a hamstring.

vs Leicester

Sels
Aina  Milenkovic Morato Williams
Sangare Anderson
Elanga Gibbs-White Dominguez
Wood

FW Taiwo Awoniyi and RB/RW Eric da Silva Moreira are the only other players on the injured list but neither have been regular starters

    Nailed on LOSS =)
  • Areola
    Todibo - Kilman - Cresswell
    Coufal - Souček - Ward-Prowse - Wan-Bissaka
    Bowen - Kudus
    Füllkrug
  • I think Soucek and Ward-Prowse will struggle against that Forest midfield.
  • Spare a thought for Awoniyi, wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

  • BND, Just another example to highlight how bad the new offside directives are, this is exactly what people dreaded was going to happen when the offside flag isn’t raised soon enough.

I think the benefit of allowing play to continue on a tight call is clear and I feel sure a number of goals have stood that could have been waved off in error. As distressing as Awoniyi's injury is it could so easily have been onside and we would have just considered it a sad injury, he got injured playing football.

If there is one criticism in this case it was that the lino should have been able to make the call because he was clearly offside, but on anywhere near a tight call I am in favour of how it stands.
  • The unfortunate thing in this instance is that the player was clearly offside, it wasn't a tight call at all. Hopefully when semi-automated offside technology is fully operational, a lino can keep his flag down but the VAR can be alerted to the offside by the technology almost immediatle and he in turn can tell the ref, all within a few seconds of the offence thus negating the need to allow the play to continue until a natural conclusion is reached; this would hopefully greatly reduce the chances of an injury such as Awoniyi's occuring.
  • So with both Man U and Spurs losing .this has turned into 6 million game for us win and we finish above both of those losers .Might be worth offering our players a 10 pound bonus to win it =)
  • Steve, you've totally forgotten ASLEF's write-up, haven't you?
  • I want Coufal to score so badly
  • Aaron Cresswell, Łukasz Fabiański, Vladimír Coufal and Danny Ings won't be at the Club next season. There may be emotional reasons for giving them some part of the play today, but can't help wondering whether Potter will blend some younger players instead. The likes of Potts, Earthy, Marshall are back from loans and should play some part.

I don't think the returning youngsters will be allowed to play as their registration would have been with their loan clubs after the January window closed.

  • The kids might be back from loan but not necessarily training with the first team

Finishing above Spurs and Man Utd is the best we can hope for from a pretty dreadful season so Potter will put out the best team he can
  • The loaners may be back but their registrations would be until 31 May I would expect.

6 points from the last 2 games gives us a decent shout of 13th or 14th; Everton are away to Newcastle on the last day and would need at least a point and Wolves are away to Palace and then home to Brentford and would need to win both to stay above us if we win our last 2 games.

Huge result for us today if we can manage a win.

Areola, Coufal, Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell, Wan-Bissaka, Rodríguez, Ward-Prowse, Souček, Bowen ©, Kudus
Subs: Fabiański (GK), Emerson, Mavropanos, Álvarez, Soler, Paquetá, Luis Guilherme, Ferguson, Füllkrug

    Unchanged starting XI.
  • I’m very surprised he’s stuck with that selection. A slow midfield like that works against Man Utd because they are also slow and don’t press. Forest are a different challenge.
  • Where is the creative element beyond Bowen & Kudus? Why not give Guilherme a game?

Probably because this is a big game still, the difference between 13th and 17th is about £12m in PL prize money so now is not the time to experiment with starting a relatively inexperienced player when there are other options.

  • Thought he might have given Fabianski an airing.
  • Presentation thing for Cresswell with Nobes.
  • Soucek forces a good save
  • Great ball in from Coufal and a decent effort from Soucek
  • Very decent save by Areola.
  • Oh boy, not sure how they didn’t score there, outstanding save from Areola
  • Coufal with a chance, but saved.
