We’ve lost 9 games in a row at Anfield, drawn the two before that and our last win was the stunning 3-0 on 29th August 2015 during that magical last season at the Boleyn

Liverpool are Liverpool, Slot inherited a squad depth other managers would exchange their first born child for

    But

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are both injured so Slot has opted to play Curtis Jones as a makeshift RB for the last two games rather than Liverpool youth product Jarell Quansah

RB Conor Bradley returned from injury after 5 weeks off and came on in the 89th minute against Fulham so probably not fit enough to start

    But

    It’s Liverpool

    Areola
    Todibo - Kilman - Cresswell
    Wan-Bissaka - Ward-Prowse - Souček - Emerson
    Bowen - Füllkrug - Kudus
  • Think I saw Cresswell has a hamstring injury?
  • We’ve looked better offensively in a back 4, and we’ve still not been super secure defensively with a 5. Liverpool will almost certainly score, which means we’ll need to score too. Fulham beat Liverpool by attacking them. I know it’s a risky strategy, but I’d like to see

    Areola
    AWB Todibo Kilman Emerson
    JWP Alvarez
    Bowen Soucek Kudus
    Fullkrug
  • I see Salah is now staying at Liverpool. Just the boost they needed for Sunday.
  • Slot says Allison and Conor Bradley are both ready to start

It’s just about experimenting really now with formations, personnel & game plans. This will probably end up a 2-0 defeat but it’s worth just maybe tweaking the formation or changing the way we attack the game.

    Areola
    Wan-Bissaka - Todibo - Kilman - Emerson
    Ward-Prowse - Souček
    Bowen - Kudus - Paquetá
    Füllkrug

Fabiański, Mavropanos, Coufal, Scarles, Álvarez, Rodríguez, Soler, Guilherme, Ferguson

Bit more adventurous, Kudus as a 10, Füllkrug starting. I’d give Scarles a break as his performances have dipped & Salah will give him a tough game.
  • Potter says “There aren't any major issues - it'll be a similar squad”

Fullkrug “we're just making sure he's OK after the weekend. He's trained today so hopefully there's no reaction and he'll be in the squad”

“We like him a lot, but he's had a complicated season. We're trying to manage it so he can play as many minutes, safely”

I think that translates as he’ll be on the bench again
  • Yeah, I can't see Füllkrug starting.
  • That is very negative if he benches him. He needs to start so we can at least attack the game from the start. If as expected he gets tired and needs looking after then bring him off on the hour.
  • There’s no point starting him with a plan to take him off after an hour if he can’t play for that long. Don’t think it’s negative at all to keep someone on the bench if they’re not fit enough. People would probably be pretty riled up if he started and went off injured after 15 minutes.
  • What's the difference between a plan to not start him as you don't think he can manage a full match yet or to start him knowing you may have to take him off at some point?

My view is that by starting him we are in the game at 0-0 and a striker helps us take the match to them a little, but if as is very possible we are 2-0 down before he arrives on the scene the game may already be gone.

The 15 minute off injured scenario is the same as coming on with half an hour to go and getting injured in 15 minutes. It would be upsetting but the fifteen minutes of football that found him out is the same 15 minutes of football regardless of the part of the 90 it occupies.
  • The difference is that if he can’t manage more than 30 minutes, which he hasn’t so far, it means you’re subbing him off after 30 when he’s had to play against Van Dijk and Konate who haven’t been tired out for an hour already. If managers thought that started half fit players to bring them off after 30 minutes was a good idea they’d do that, but they don’t
  • Personally I would think he has more than 30 minutes in him at this stage, lets see what Potter thinks tomorrow.
  • My point has never been that he does or doesn’t have it in him. My point is that it isn’t “very negative”, in my opinion, if he doesn’t start, because the only reason he won’t start is his fitness.
  • Match day .Looking forward to a nice easy game and 3 points
  • Errrrrr

Fullkrug played the whole of the 2nd half against Wolves and was a 54th minute sub against Bournemouth so more than 30 minutes both times

Regardless Potter's comments are a fair indication he doesn't think Fullkrug is ready to start
  • Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Mavropanos, Scarles, Ward-Prowse, Soler, Paquetá, Kudus, Bowen ©
Subs: Fabiański (GK), Coufal, Emerson, Rodríguez, Álvarez, Souček, Luis Guilherme, Ferguson, Füllkrug
  • What kind of team is that
  • Sure to get beaten with Mavropanic in the side. 🫣
  • We will be over-run again in midfield.

    4-0 loss
  • 5 mins in still 0-0
  • 10 mins in still 0-0 =)
