Kudus was literally the only exciting thing about our forward play. I get that he’s wasteful, and I get that his decision making can leave a lot to be desired, but I think that criticising him after today’s display is weird.
I genuinely could not disagree more. I don’t find him exciting at all. I find him predictable, one-footed, wasteful & ineffective at most things he does.
Well that was a pretty lackluster and scrappy affair that frankly I am not sure either side did enough to truly deserve the points, Newcastle will obviously be happy to take them but honestly, were they any good themselves….please discuss
As for WHU, we end up with nothing and never looked like we deserved anything different- we huffed and puffed but imo, we never played with any real urgency or fluidity and I do not recall us creating a single flowing move of promise.
I am not sure how the Newcastle goal was allowed to stand. Kilman is centimetres away from heading the ball & gets a two handed push in the back. I can’t get how that is not deemed a foul & a crucial intervention in that goal being scored.
We got what we deserved and that was nothing. We are so boring and created absolutely nothing and even in those last few minutes still kept going backwards or stupidly losing the ball and Newcastle simply strolling through us. They should have had at least a couple in stoppage time if their final ball had been better.
We had 11 days to prepare for this game but looked as if we’d played last night and didn’t really have a shot after 8.30 pm. According to Sky our average shots per game under Potter is 9 which we did tonight which is the lowest in the PL. I don’t think the “push” on Kilman was significant as he never really made a serious attempt at heading the ball first as he was leaning forwards rather than jumping as if expecting the ball to drop on his head. Scarles was then caught out by Bruno who was more alert in getting to the ball.
Disappointing game. We lacked creativity and bite. Hopefully, we are safe but ought to finish as high as possible to build momentum for the next season. Worth trying young, hungry players. Scarlet rarely crosses or goes past his man. Not sure if that is the manager's instructions or something else.
The side is too safe but it’s what Potter has to work with. Summerville offers us a different option but he’s unavailable. We seem to be struggling at home & haven’t settled on any sort of rhythm in our performance.
I agree Lukerz. But it's his breakthrough season so all you hope for is ( imo) solidity and composure. There are many years yet to develop him to a genuine PL attacking LB.
I think safety in your first season is pretty good going.
A poor game. It always looked as if one goal would settle it, but neither team deserved the win. Not the most memorable 90 minutes. Liverpool will not be too worried for next Sunday.

Soler…….arrrggghhhh
Really, he thought that was a good decision?
And are people not bored of watching Kudus play? I am.
We weren’t awful, but at the same time lots to work on…
Oh well…
That’s my important takeaway from this game
