Edit - still harping on about Kudus. ( Takes me a while to type on the teeny tiny phone).
For me he feels like a luxury player. Has skillz but too often doesn't do the basics well. In a club like ours, where we are at the moment, I think we don't have room for luxury players, we need solid players.
But impressions can be not borne out by facts, so I will try to look at some of his stats. Also, maybe, it's easy to have a downer on him because our expectations (of him) are high.
Yeah I can see that point of view. I think he’s been disappointing, but not so disappointing that he should be singled out. Maybe you’re right that our expectations are high. I think he’s very good when we’re counter attacking and when we need to carry the ball, but his decision making is frustrating at times.
I feel like Leicester were so bad that it made us look poorer. We didn’t go at them because we just didn’t need to. The fact that we kept them at arms length, won the game 2-0 and never got out of second gear tells you what you need to know.
Good performance, but generally a poor game, - Leicester were terrible! No yellow cards or VAR involvement tonight. Taylor must be annoyed he had little to do (and get wrong!) We seem to play well as a team, like tonight, or terrible as a team. Seems we have a different West Ham in alternate weeks, so maybe I should be happy with two good performances in a row. 😁⚒️
Strange game that, Leicester were so poor and If I was one of their fans who travelled down midweek and saw my team play like that I’d be proper miffed. We didn’t need to get out of third gear but I would’ve liked us to have been more aggressive and killed them off four or five, still a wins a win so happy days.⚒️
That was a pretty poor match to watch with two very scrappy goals but the result is what matters.
Bowen is astonishing with his attitude, he is a dream player in that wherever he gets the ball he just heads towards the goal with real intensity. I am so happy he has put down roots with West Ham as he could play for anyone now I feel.
Todibo looked decent in moments today and I am still hopeful we can find the player we thought we signed by the start of next season.
I am so happy we have this period in which we can bed in Scarles as he looks full of potential and this no risk end of the season is exactly what we need. I would like to see Irving given more chance to audition for next season. I suspect Soler will be gone at the end of the season so I would like to see at least some of his minutes given to Irving.
As for Leicester they were woeful! no intensity and so little quality. I think they are down as their next few games are Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Newcastle, Brighton & Liverpool. If they can survive those games and still be in with a chance they finish with matches against their three relegation rivals in Wolves, Soton and Ipswich. They needed three points tonight.
If we’re going after a new keeper (which we should) I’d like us to go for Kelleher at Liverpool, personally.
Can't see us trumping up the fee it would take to get Kelleher tbh.
Liverpool have signed that Georgian goalkeeper, and already have Allison, so Kelleher’s future is pretty wide open. If he actively wants to leave his price will be lower than otherwise. And whilst I get what you’re saying, if Potter thinks a goalkeeper is important to the way he wants to play I could see us spending bigger on a keeper. Moyes sort of uses keepers in the traditional way so I understand not necessarily spending big on one, but Potter seems to want his keepers to be involved in play, so presumably values them more highly.
I agree in that I wouldn't be surprised to see Kelleher move on, I just think finances may well be tight in the summer and I'm not sure we'll be able to stretch to a, by our standards, pricey keeper. We've already got to find £30-£35m for Todibo and (just for argument's sake) say £40m for Ferguson just to stay where we are (and assuming we don't try and keep Soler). Then there's still a need for a more athletic midfielder (imo) to give us options there, plus the fact that Cresswell is 90 and can't go on forever, and Coufal is OOC and may well want to leave given his reduced playing time even when available. And that's before considering what might happen with Paqueta.
There's plenty of money that needs spending this summer, and, given our current league position, I suspect revenue will be below what we'll have budgeted for. As much as I think we need a new starting keeper unless Areola really pulls his socks up in the remaining games, I just don't see us being able to spend big in that area.
This is probably a chat for a transfer thread, but I think there's no option on Aguerd's loan deal, and I'm fully expecting him to come back and take Cresswell's spot. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I also think that an athletic midfielder might not be as important to Potter's way of playing as a goalkeeper who can use their feet is. I'm not necessarily saying I believe that, but we don't know what Potter and his recruitment team feel are the priorities. I can easily imagine a situation where he says he can get by without another CM if he has a quality keeper.

Over hyped?
They have also had 2 shots on target.
Has to be said that Leicester were really poor but we dominated the game and never looked troubled.

Think that’s us sorted
