I've got a few sessions opened up in my schedule leading up to the GCSE public exams (summer).

If anyone has a family member sitting Eng Lang or Eng Lit (any exam board) this summer who wants a bit of short, sharp, focussed extra help, send me a message.

My schedule is not massively flexible - but can probably do up to 4 or maybe 6 lessons. Depending on dates.

(Free.)

I've just realised that the site was launched in Jan 2011. So we are officially 15 years old.

I don't know if that fills you who are still here with joy or horror 😂.

But I just wanted to mark the occasion. And say that although there have been ups and downs, I am very glad that we have made a small corner of the Internet that reflects the best(ish - we try!) of what the Internet can be. And everyone has played their part in that.

If any site members have detached, but lurk now and then, this means you too. And I hope you are all doing ok. Even if you don't want to actively participate any more, that's ok.
And bless those who were here but are no longer.
COYI.

Most of you know that John (grey) was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour towards the end of last year.

After surgery before Christmas, combined radiotherapy/ chemotherapy in February and March and 2 subsequent courses of chemo through June and July, John died at home last Thursday 8 October. The funeral was Friday, in line with Greek custom.

The funeral service follows a set pattern, with no room for anything personal. However, I wanted to have something personal, and special to us both, as part of the day. His enduring love for WHU was therefore reflected in my having him dressed in his West Ham top for the burial. ( The No. 6 replica one.) I hope you approve. ( I'm not sure the undertaker did!)

I debated for a while about posting this, but after checking it was OK with the other mods I decided to go ahead.

I do online tutoring in secondary English (yr 7-11) and upper primary literacy (yr 5+6). Schools have broken up for summer here in Greece so I've got more availability for the next 3 months ... so I've decided to offer session at reduced rates for site members. If you are interested, on behalf of your own kids, or grand-kids/nephews/nieces then feel free to send me a PM to discuss further.

Apologies if this is discussed on another thread.

What does everyone think of this?

Personally I think the existing “pyramid” system works. If it ain’t broke....... and all that. Seems like a money grab to me, and the idea of preferred clubs fills me with dread.

If they really want to help smaller clubs, why not pay a percentage of any transfers to smaller clubs rather than agents - players could help push this through. Even 1% of a £1 billion transfer window would be a lot of money to smaller clubs!

Wow! This is my first ever Thread - please be gentle with me. Although I've been around from the very early days I must admit I am more of a 'voyeur' ( sorry wrong forum!) with the occasional response / input.

Anyway, I am after some advice. My very generous daughter is treating myself and my better half to a 5 day trip to Tromso, Norway to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary which was in December.

I know some of our members are in Norway and I have pm'd Trondheimrob who has yet to respond - but if anyone has any experience of Tromso I would be very grateful for some advice before I order my Krone.

Things like -

Is it really expensive out there? Average cost to eat / drink out? - both fast food and restaurants.

Best way to see the sights / search for the Northern Lights? - best to go with a firm, taxi, hire a car?

Any advice really on things to do / how to have a good time whilst keeping an eye on the budget would be really useful.

I know there is always Trip Adviser but I'd rather hear it from my fellow Hammers.
