What does anybody do to get that sort of salary. I imagine it's comparable to what people at her level in a multi-million pound business in a capitalist society get.

    Is everybody turning socialist now?

    She's not even a full-time employee, for a start.

What on earth does Brady do to deserve earn be paid that kind of salary ?

I would say “that people at her level” do a hell of a lot more than her to earn that type of salary. She’s only a figurehead at the club. What is her input apart from attending the occasional meeting with the fans?

  • DJH if KB does nothing to earn that sort of money then I don't think she is the fool. Anyone who employs a person to do nothing and pays over a million is a fool

Sullivan has been paying KB's wages since she was 19, after that long he probably does it without thinking - like breathing.

Not forgetting that many who operate at that level, are prone to be sacked/ousted for poor performance,

It look like she got a game once upon a time so we shouldn't really complain about our transfer targets!

Did that a loooong time ago

We'll, if you don't know what her job involves, are you really qualified to say her renumeration isn't justified?

MrsGrey, from an absolutist view, nobody deserves, or rather, needs to be paid £1m salary.
  • Miss those big flaps from back in the 90’s. They can get a bit crusty though if you don’t wash them regularly. More of a Reebok or Adidas man myself, found the Pumas fell apart easily.
  • That is an interesting article and points to what is wrong with the game, 143m in wages for team, management and staff, that includes 7m annual salary for the manager,- you know there is a huge disparity between the first ream squad and other players with a very high percentage going to relatively few individuals.

It might seem a lot to spend 4m on training facilities but IF we could just scale back the wages for a FEW by just a BIT, we could afford to double that investment in training and surely allocate a bit more than 600k on the women’s team.

I think that I have been listening to Bernie Saunders for a little too long ;)
  • I just had a look at what 2-bedroom apartment would cost in "Upton Gardens". £500k...I was hoping we could all buy one each and knock it down.

That's the straight up issue with just about every single issue facing humankind at the moment. If we just scaled back on paying the few a tonne we could invest in health, education, science etc etc. But sadly those who get it don't want to give it up.

Absolutely agree. However, much of the criticism of KBs salary comes across to me as that some folks don't have a problem with the amount but with the person.

What did she do in 2018-19 to deserve a 25% pay rise? it wasn't a fantastic season and it seems we made a financial loss.

Its like the city types who make losses for their banks, etc. but still get huge bonuses.

Actually what does she do? And does it warrant a £1m+ pay packet?
  • I think she was the lead when choosing the colour for the carpet :hmm:

For me, it’s a value for money issue.
  • Karen Brady got her big break in life when she worked at LBC and targeted one of her dads biggest clients to sell advertising space. Who was you guessed it David Sullivan . Sullivan spent two million in 6 months and then gave her a job. So she hasn’t exactly travelled very far!!
It makes me laugh as Sullivan gave her a job working for his “Sport” news papers which she was happy to work for yet this is the same Karen Brady who has been very vocal about not being able to work for Sir Philip Green because of something to do with ethics!! And as a feminist she couldn’t carry on working for him. It’s funny how she has ethics now she has made a fortune. I hope she loves David Sullivan’s ethics?

How hypocritical is she working for Sullivan who made his living from porn and dubious papers.

The woman has made all her money by working for the likes of Sullivan and green but is a feminist.

You couldn’t make it up . The quicker she leaves our club the better.
  • Never trust a woman who sold her husband twice
  • I hadn’t realised that Brady’s father tried to move Swindon’s ground in 2000 but the council wouldn’t let him. I wondered where she gets her ideas from!!

So it seems the general consensus of opinion on Brady in a West Ham context is waste of money, waste of space and waste of oxygen.
    Get rid.

What is also so galling is she seems apparently to have no sense of shame or embarrassment in taking her salary for what is a part-time job.
I cannot believe that whatever it is she does could not be done by someone with accountancy, PR, legal or broom-pushing abilities for a fraction of it.

  • So it seems the general consensus of opinion

So you think these are informed opinions do you?

Personally have no issue with Karen Brady. Each to their own, I am sure she is no fool, and there are worse people we could have been lumbered with. Just IMO tho.
The owners, are just that, owners, we are fans, we can moan etc etc, but they pay the bills, not us.
No one forces us to pay to watch our team play, buy the merchandise.
& No I don't think they are great, just sometimes somewhat naive.

    Karren Brady
Occupation: Businesswoman (?), journalist (?), politician (?), broadcaster, media personality (???), author (?), novelist (?)

Education: Aldenham School, Elstree, a boys' school which accepted girls in the sixth form, where she gained four A-levels. (wow)

MrsGrey, this woman is where she is by pure luck and connections. I don't understand why you're (apparently) defending her.

And no, it's not because she's a woman.

bubbles, cannot agree...IMO u way off the mark with your assessment, but we all entiltled to our views, luck/hard work ?? so fair enough.
  • Jay, if you want to talk about hard work and deserving of reward, read "This Is Going To Hurt" by Adam Kay.

Can we not veer off into belittling, insults or personal attacks.

Can we please stick to the football aspect of her role at the club.

    Thank you.
